Rohit, Bumrah and Gill will give fitness test, but Virat Kohli missing? BCCI reminds rules
Yo-yo test at bcci coe: Many big players of the Indian cricket team will give a fitness test at BCCI’s Center of Excellence (COE) on August 30, on 30 August. The most important name in this list is that of ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who will now be seen playing only one format. Along with him, Team India Test captain Shubman Gill, fast bowlers Jaspreet Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur will also participate in this Test.
However, suspense still remains on the presence of Virat Kohli. Kohli last appeared in the final of the ICC ODI Champions Trophy 2025 with Rohit. But the speculation has intensified due to his name not being included in the fitness test.
BCCI explained why fitness test is necessary?
The BCCI officials made it clear that this test is not only a formality, but it gives the right idea of the current status of the players. Players were also given sets of practice at home, so that their preparation is not affected after the break.
Talking to the Indian Express, a BCCI official said, “All players have to undergo pre-seasons fitness tests, it is mandatory according to the contract.
Rohit-Bumrah will be monitored
Earlier there were reports about Rohit Sharma that his fitness test has been postponed till September. But now it is clear that the hitman will give a test today i.e. on 30 August. At the same time, everyone’s eyes will also be on Jaspreet Bumrah, which was managed very carefully during the England series. His fitness will be important in terms of Asia Cup and big tournaments coming forward.
Cricketers will have Yo-Yo and Dexa scan
During the fitness test, the players will have to undergo the Yo-Yo test and the Dexa scan. The Yo-Yo test assesses the stamina and running fitness of the cricketers, while the Dexa scan measures the strength of bones. Recently, Team India’s new strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Rocks suggested to include the ‘Bronco Test’ used in Rugby in the fitness program. However, it will be implemented at the end of this season.
