The Gujarat Titans hit two catches of Rohit Sharma in an important match like Eliminator. Both times had a chance to get Rohit out early, but the lapse in fielding was overshadowed. What happened after this, it can be understood by looking at the innings of Mumbai.

Gujarat’s fielding in the IPL 2025 eliminator match being played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans further increased their difficulties. At the beginning of the match, Rohit Sharma got life twice and took full advantage of this and played a stormy innings of 81 runs in 50 balls.

The first opportunity came in the second over when Rohit played a bridge shot off the famous Krishna ball, but the ball did not come properly. Jerald Koetzi, who was standing on the fine leg, had an easy catch, but he dropped the ball after jugging twice.

In the very next over, Rohit tried to play a big shot towards the leg side off Mohammad Siraj. The ball went behind the stumps, but wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis could not catch the catch. Mendis Jose has replaced Butler in the playing-11 and his drop was very expensive for Gujarat.

After these drops, Johnny Bairstow beat the famous Krishna fiercely in the next over. He looted 26 runs in a single over which included two fours and two sixes. Although Bairstow became a victim of R Sai Kishore by scoring 47 runs in 22 balls, but by then the foundation of Mumbai had strengthened.

On the basis of this innings of Rohit, Mumbai scored a huge score of 228 runs in 20 overs, which is enough to push any team on the backfoot in a pressure match like eliminator.
