Rohit Sharma also appeared on the retirement of Angelo Mathews, special message given through video
Sri Lankan cricket veteran Angelo Mathews is going to say goodbye to his Test career after the first Test against Bangladesh in Gaul. This will be his 119th Test in this format. Despite being away from Test cricket, Mathews will continue their white-ball career and are planning to retire after the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Mathews has scored 8167 runs in 118 Tests for Sri Lanka. His batting records include 16 centuries and 45 half -centuries, as well as 33 wickets as an all -rounder. On Mathews’s retirement, many legends are wishing him a wishes for his further life and in this episode, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also shared a personal message for Mathews.
Rohit said in a video, “Hey Angi, congratulations for your brilliant career. In the last few years we have played many best matches since the days of under-19. You have been a true servant for your country and I am sure that everyone at home appreciates the work done for your country.”

At the same time, Mathews also talked about his future plans in white-ball cricket and has expressed his intentions to play till the next T20 World Cup. He said, “There are six months left till the next T20 World Cup and I will try according to my body. I hope that I will retire from white-ball cricket in that World Cup. If we can win another World Cup, I will try to contribute to it. So I will make every effort to improve my fitness and skills in the next six months.”
