Rohit Sharma made a big disclosure, ‘Team India wanted to take on November 19 in T20 World Cup’
Indian cricket team’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma has revealed that India wanted to exclude Australia from the T20 World Cup 2024 to avenge the defeat of the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the final held in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023, Australia defeated India badly and won their sixth ODI Cup.
The Indian team did not lose a single match in the entire tournament, but in the final, Australia defeated them by 6 wickets and with this defeat, Rohit Sharma’s dream of winning the ODI World Cup was also broken. Crores of countrymen were sitting assuming that the Indian team would win another World Cup on their land but Australia did not allow this to happen.
Now Rohit Sharma told that he waited for the T20 World Cup 2024 to avenge the pain given by Australia on November 19, 2023. India faced Australia in their final Super 8 matches to secure their place in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. Australia needed to win the match to stay in the race to make it to the last four as they had to face a crushing defeat from Afghanistan.
The defeat to India meant that Australia would reach out of the tournament and Afghanistan’s team would reach the semi -finals and the same happened after this match. Rohit scored 92 runs with a brilliant performance with the bat and revealed the conversation between the players in the dressing room. The former T20 captain said that Australia had spoiled the day of 19 November for him and the players wanted to take revenge on Australia.
Rohit said in an interview to Star Sports, “Australia had spoiled us in the ODI World Cup final and the whole country on November 19, so we should also give them gifts. Such things were done in the dressing room. It was in our mind that if we won this match, Australia would be out of this T20 World Cup.”
Let us know that Jeet against Australia helped India move forward and defeated South Africa in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
