Indian cricket team’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma recently surprised his fans by retiring from Test format. Rohit was expected to go on England tour but he retired and blows everyone’s senses before retiring from this tour. Meanwhile, after taking retirement from the Test, he also met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Rohit Sharma met the CM of Maharashtra at the Chief Minister’s official residence Varsha bungalow in Mumbai. During this meeting, the CM personally congratulated him on his retirement from Test cricket. Fadnavis appreciated Sharma for his brilliant career for 14 years from 2011 to 2025. Fadnavis also shared some pictures of his meeting with Rohit.

The CM of Maharashtra wrote, “It was very good to welcome Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma in my official residence Varsha. I wished him from Test cricket for his retirement and continuous success in the next chapter of his journey.”

On 7 May, 38 -year -old Rohit announced his decision to move away from the longest format of the game. After retiring from T20 International last year, Rohit is only an active cricketer for India. To explain his decision, the veteran posted a post through his Instagram story. Rohit wrote, “Hello everyone. I just want to tell that I am retiring from Test cricket. It is a matter of respect for me to represent my country. Thank you for the love and support received over the years. I will continue to represent India in ODI formats.”

Rohit’s performance in India’s recent Australia tour was not good, where he scored only 36 runs in three Tests. He also dropped himself out for the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Talking about Rohit’s Test career, he scored 4301 runs in 67 Test matches at an average of 40.57 and 4301 runs with 18 fifties.
