Rohit Sharma’s test retirement or conspiracy? Big disclosure on the politics going on inside the team!
Whatever has happened recently in Indian cricket, it will probably be like turning a ‘common change’ by saying a ‘general change’. Rohit Sharma’s sudden retirement from Test cricket and removal of support staff considered to be close to him has exposed the movements going on inside the dressing room. According to the report, Rohit Sharma’s ‘Inner Circle’ was targeted, which could be part of a major change.
Rohit Sharma vs Indian Team Management?
The cricket world was shocked to retire from Rohit Sharma suddenly from Test. If he wanted, he could retire immediately after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), but he did not do so.
Virat Kohli’s case was also similar, he also said goodbye to Test cricket and according to reports, the BCCI did not try to convince him. At the same time, Rohit has also been revealed that the selectors have been pressurized.
But the biggest question that is raising is massive changes in the support staff. Assistant coach Abhishek Nair, considered close to Rohit Sharma, was removed, who is being described as the ‘sacrificial goat’ of defeat in BGT. Fielding coach T. Dilip, Strength Coach Soham Desai and Massage Therapist Arun Kanade were also shown the way out.
Is this all the ‘new era’ of Gautam Gambhir?
Although no official statement has come from the BCCI, the discussions are hot that all these decisions are part of the thinking and strategy of new head coach Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir is considered coach who prefer to work on their own terms and does not accept any kind of laxity or grouping. After Gambhir’s arrival, the talk of discipline and new direction in the team is constantly rising. As such, removing Rohit’s close staff may be a sign of the beginning of this ‘new era’.
‘Toxicity’ increased in the dressing room?
Another big claim came out in the report – some senior players have called the team’s atmosphere ‘toxic’ i.e. poisonous. According to the report, the lack of harmony with some members of the support staff and the equation formed within the team made the atmosphere tense.
What was the reason for this ‘toxicity’, it is not clear to Rohit Sharma’s loyalty to the style or a new system. But it is certain that some serious disagreements were flourishing in the Indian dressing room, whose effect is now visible in decisions.
