Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s film beaten Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama film to earn Rs 152 crore worldwide, while ‘Sanwaria’ earned just Rs 39.22 crore. Directed by Farah Khan, made in a budget of Rs 40 crore, the film became the highest -grossing Hindi film at the box office in 2007 at the box office. According to IMDB, ‘Om Shanti Om’ won a total of 38 awards and received around 30 nominations. At the 55th National Film Awards, Deepika Padukone won the Best Debut Actress Award and Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor Award. At the same time, Shreyas Talpade won the award for Best Supporting Actor and Farah Khan.
Story of Om Shanti Om
The story of this blockbuster film is based on a junior actor Om Prakash Mehra (Shah Rukh Khan), who is in love with a famous actress Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone). Om tries to help him when he finds out that he is trapped in a derogatory marriage with a manufacturer. However, he dies while doing so. After 30 years, he takes rebirth as the son of a superstar and he is lost again in the memories of his previous life.
