Moscow: Taking a major step, Russian officials on Monday banned the International Human Rights Group Amnesty International as the ‘undesirable organization’. The decision to declare Amnesty International as an ‘undesirable organization’ has been taken under the 2015 law, under which participation with such organizations is a crime.

All work will have to be closed in Russia

The decision announced in a statement issued by the Russian Maha Prosecutor’s office is a new phase of continuous action against critics, journalists and activists of Kremlin, which increased considerably after waging war with Russia’s Ukraine in February 2022. With this decision, the International Human Rights Group will have to stop all work in Russia and those who support or support it will be prosecuted.
