Pyongyang: The Russia-Ukraine War has been becoming fatal for the last few days. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov met North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong-un on Saturday. The meeting took place during Lavarov’s visit to North Korea, which is considered an important strategic partner of Russia. After this meeting, the possibility of a dangerous turn in the Russia-Ukraine war has increased.

America eye on Russia-North Korea’s alliance

America is closely monitored by Russia and North Korea’s alliances. The reason for this is the secret military agreement between Russia and North Korea. As part of a similar agreement, the US claimed to fight the war on behalf of North Korea about 1 year ago. However, North Korea termed the claim as misleading. According to Moscow Times, the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a video sharing information on the Telegram channel, in which Lavarov and Kim Jong-un are seen shaking and hugging. This meeting is an indication that diplomatic and military relations between the two countries are rapidly deepening.

Why is Mulkat important?

According to Russian and North Korean media, Lavarov will stay in North Korea until Sunday. The journey is part of a series of high -level meetings between Russia and North Korea, especially in the context of Ukraine War.

Ukraine open support in war

According to the Russian news agency TASS, Lavarov said that North Korean authorities have reiterated their full support for all the targets of Russia’s campaign in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that Lavarov thanked the “Veer” North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia. North Korea first admitted in April 2024 that it deployed thousands of soldiers in Russia’s Kursk region to drive out Ukrainian forces. In addition, it has also provided cannon shells and missiles to Russia.

Other high level meetings

On Saturday, Lavarov met North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choi Son Hui in the eastern coastal city of Wansan, where a huge resort has recently been opened. Significantly, Russian security chief Sergei Shigu has also visited Pyongyang several times this year.

Defense agreement and mutual guarantee

Both Russia and North Korea have a huge burden of international sanctions. Despite this, both countries signed a defense agreement last year, including currents of mutual defense. The agreement was reached during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea, a symbol of an unusual and strategic solution between the two countries. In the recent months in the North Korean media, pictures of Kim Jong-un were shown paying tribute to the coffins of their soldiers wrapped in shroud in recent months, who were killed in Ukraine for Russia. The journey highlights the open role of North Korea in the strengthening strategic relationships between Russia and North Korea and the Ukraine crisis.
