SA vs Zim: South Africa threw 626 runs in the first innings from Mulder’s triple century and included Zimbabwe at 170
SA vs Zim 2nd Test Day 2 Highlights: On the second day of the second Test being played in Bulawayo, South Africa dominated Zimbabwe on the second day of the second Test of Vian Mulder and on the brilliant bowling of Debutant Purreen Subrane. Mulder declared the innings at lunch by scoring 367* runs, while Sabreen took 4 wickets and gave Zimbabwe to 170 runs. The Zimbabwe’s team scored 51/1 runs till the stumps and are still 405 runs behind.
Many records were broken on the second day of the second Test being played between South Africa and Zimbabwe on Monday in Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. Vian Mulder played a historic innings of 367* runs and South Africa declared his first innings at 626/5 at lunch. Mulder was just 34 runs away from the highest individual score in Test cricket. Along with this, he broke Hashim Amla’s record of 311 runs and won the biggest South African score in the Test.
Mulder carried out his innings by 264 in the morning. Initially he was seen struggling a little but later played the best strokes and completed the triple century in only 297 balls. He became the only second batsman from South Africa to achieve this feat. David Bedingham (82), Luan-Dr Pretorius (78) and Kyle Viren (42*) also contributed significantly.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe’s team was reduced to just 170 runs in the first innings. Sean Williams scored 83* runs in just 55 balls and struggled alone. Prereen, who was making a Test debut for South Africa, took 4 wickets while bowling brilliantly, while Vian Mulder also took 2 wickets with the ball.
Zimbabwe’s team looked a little better in the second innings. Takudzwana She Kaitano (34*) and Donon Myers tried to handle the innings, but Corbin Bosch dismissed Myers and gave the visiting team the first success. By the end of the second day’s play, Zimbabwe has scored 51/1 runs and is still 405 runs behind.
