Patna (A.S.). Woman is the mother of nature, but even today a girl is considered a burden in an uneducated society. This is the reason that despite all the efforts of the government, child marriage is not stopping. The only reason for this is lack of education in the society. Read- Due to lack of education, parents exploit their children. Yes, we are talking about child marriage, which is not allowed by law but hundreds of cases are reported in Bihar every year. In Phulwarisharif of Patna district, a 12 year old minor Dalit girl was being forcibly married to a 35 year old boy. Mehndi had been decorated on the girl’s hands and the wedding procession was going to come the next day, complete preparations for the wedding had been made. There were tears in the girl’s eyes and she was praying to God in her mind, O Lord, please do it. A friend of the girl narrated the entire incident to advocate Savita Ali, head of NGO Bihar Legal Network.

Savita Ali took the matter seriously, first sent her NGO team to the incident site, Babhanpura village of Phulwarisharif. Informed the SDO and police and herself reached the spot. The 12 year old girl was being married to Vikas Kumar, resident of Fatehpur, Jammu for 35 years.

When the police brought the minor girl and boy to the police station along with their family members and started interrogating them, they got the information that the girl’s father was marrying his minor daughter for the greed of money. NGO’s advocate Savita Ali and female counselor Seema Kumari told both the families about the physical harm caused to the minor girl due to child marriage and described child marriage as a legal crime. The police administration also took a tough stand and warned the accused boy of sending him to jail, then all his arrogance went away and he started falling in front of the victim girl. The police released the father of the accused boy and girl after making them take an oath that they will not indulge in child marriage and if anyone does it in the future, they will inform the police administration. Advocate Savita Ali assured to help the minor girl as much as possible for her further studies and if her daughter studies then the country will progress.
