What is Digipin?

Indian post is also going to be completely digital. Dedicated website for India Post’s Digital PIN Code Service has been launched. Through this website, users will be able to generate digital PIN code of their address. These Digipin are a unique 10 digit alpha pneumatic codes. These codes are based on the location co-ordinates of your home or office address.

Apart from courier and parcel, digipin can also be used for emergency services. You can call the police, ambulance or fire service for help immediately in the event of emergency using your digipin. You have to share your digipin to Emergency Services. With the help of digipin, ambulance, fire brigade or police will be easy to find out your detection.

How to generate Digipin?

  • To generate digipin of your address, you get the official website will go on.
  • Here you will have to give the location of your device, so that digipin can be created based on your exact location.
  • After giving the location permission, your digipin will be generated, which you can also use emergency services, logistics, courier delivery even to book cabs.

According to India Post, IIT Hyderabad, NRSC and ISRO have been instrumental in preparing Digipin. Due to these, it became easier to generate digipin of the presence location of houses, offices, institutes etc. in the grid of 4mx4m. Each grid was given a PIN code with a unique alphanumeric 10 character, based on co-ordinary of that location. This Digipin will be completely different from the existing pin codes.

How much is different from PIN code?

Current PIN codes are made on the basis of a large area, while the presence location is placed in the digipin. There are 6 digits PIN codes based on all post offices in India, while Digipin will have 10 characters, which will have a mixture of alphabets and number. It is priced, due to which it becomes easy to find the location. The special feature of this digital pin code is that it can also be used offline.
