Tehran: A fierce bus accident has occurred in the southern part of Iran. At least 21 people died due to the overturning of a bus here. Government media released this news on Saturday. Masood Abed, the head of the emergency organization of Fars province, said that 34 others were injured in the accident, which took place in the south of Shiraz, the capital of the province.

Abed said that the rescue operation is going on. He informed that additional information and final figures will be declared after completion of the campaign and detailed investigation. The official said the incident took place at 11.5 pm and the rescue team immediately reached the spot. He said that the cause of the incident is being investigated.

The number of deaths may increase

Masood Abed, head of the Emergency Organization of the Persian province, said that the accident occurred at 11.5 am. As soon as information was received, relief and rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started relief work. He said that rescue operations are still going on and all the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. The condition of some is said to be critical.

Members of many families were going to holiday

Masood Abed further informed that the exact cause of the accident is being investigated and detailed information and final figures will be released after the investigation is completed. According to preliminary information, this bus was on an inter-city journey and most of the passenger were members of families and were going to holiday. Local eyewitnesses reported that the bus lost control of a turn at a high speed and overturned. At the same time, technical fault is also being feared in some reports.
