Shadow dark between IPL matches, Mitchell Starc’s wife Alyssa Heli told how an atmosphere of fear during IPL match
Australia’s female cricketer and Mitchell Starc’s wife Alyssa Hely (Alyssa Heally) has shared a dreadful experience of getting out of the field amidst the drone attack of Pakistan in Dharamshala (Dharamshala). That match of IPL 2025 had to be stopped in the middle and then families, including foreign players, were evacuated safely in the dark. Heli said, “The light went away, we were all sitting in the top of the stadium … Then we were filled in the van and sent to the hotel.”
Australia’s star female cricketer Alyssa Heli has shared an experience that she will rarely forget. On May 8, when she came to Dharamshala to watch the IPL match of her husband Mitchell Starc, everything suddenly changed.
Some lights were extinguished during the match and it was said that the electricity had gone, but the truth was something else. There were reports of drone and missile attacks on nearby areas like Pathankot from Pakistan, threatening the entire stadium. The crowd was taken out in peace and the players’ families were taken to a safe room.
Heli said in ‘The Wilze Talk’ podcast, “I asked Mich, so she told that the 60-km city has just targeted the missile. Then we understood why the lights have been closed. The stadium was like a target. Then we were sent directly to the hotel and sent to the hotel.”
The location of Dharamshala is very close to the border, due to which the airports were also closed. The team, support staff and families were sent to Delhi by train for 6 hours in the first bus. From there, Heli and Mitchell Starc took a flight for Sydney.
Significantly, after this incident, the IPL was suspended for a week. Now the situation has become a little better and the tournament is going to start again from 17 May.
