Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday termed the opposition’s opposition on the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill wrong. He said, ‘Can any Chief Minister (CM), Prime Minister (PM) or Minister run the government from jail. They want them to get the option to run the government from jail.

In an interview with news agency ANI, Shah discussed Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation, arrest, opposition of the opposition in Parliament.

He said, “If the Prime Minister of the country ever goes to jail, should the Prime Minister run the government from jail, what is the Chief Minister running the rule from the jail, what is this right? Any other person who has a majority, will come and run the rule. If you get your bell, then you take over the post.”

In fact, the Center introduced the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill on August 20 in the Lok Sabha. There is a provision that any Prime Minister-Chief Minister or any minister will have to step down for arrest or in custody for 30 days. The condition is that the crime for which custody or arrest has been made, there should be a provision of punishment of 5 years or more. The opposition is opposing this.

The new bill will also raise questions on our Chief Ministers: ‘Today there are more Chief Ministers of NDA alliance in the country. The Prime Minister is also from the NDA. In such a situation, the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill will not only raise questions on the opposition but will also raise questions on our Chief Ministers. If there is a fake case, the country’s High Court and the Supreme Court are not sitting with their eyes closed, they can bail. There was also such a provision in the Congress government that if the session court had sentenced anyone to two years in jail, then the membership of that member would go on its own.
Even after going to jail, the CM of Delhi also did not resign: Nowadays a new tradition has come. There was no such case two years ago. The leaders resigned after the allegations. He used to join politics only after his release. But some ministers of Tamil Nadu did not resign from the ministerial despite being in jail. Delhi CM and Home Minister also did not resign. We do not agree to discredit politics and to demolish social morality to this level.
Why did Rahul tore the ordinance to save Lalu: “Manmohan Singh Sarkar brought an ordinance to save Lalu Yadav. Why did Rahul Gandhi tear him, what was justification? If there was morality that day, is it not today, because you have lost three consecutive elections.” In fact, in 2013, the Supreme Court gave a verdict to stop the entry of criminals in politics. In this, the decision was canceled to cancel the membership of politicians who were sentenced to 2 years or more and the verdict was given not to contest elections for 6 years. The Manmohan government brought an ordinance against the decision. Meanwhile, Rahul talked about tearing the ordinance on the road itself.
