Shaktipeeth Expressway gets approval, journey from Nagpur to Goa in just 8 hours, 18 religious places will join
Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth The way for expressway has been cleared. The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the land acquisition and the scheme for this expressway. The 802-km high-speed corridor, officially known as Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Mahamarg, will connect Pawanar in Wardha district to Patradevi in Sindhudurg near Maharashtra-Goa border. The expressway will connect 18 major religious places including three Shaktipeeths, two Jyotirlingas and spiritual centers like Pandharpur and Ambajogai passing through 11 districts of the state. The expressway will connect major pilgrimage sites like Mahalakshmi Temple (Kolhapur), Tulja Bhavani Temple (Dharashiv), and Renuka Mata Shakti Peeth (Nanded).
20,787 crore rupees allocated
20,787 crore has been allocated for land acquisition of this expressway. This expressway project will be implemented through the state -run infrastructure corporation, in which the land acquisition and initial planning process will be overseen by the Public Works Department (PWD). Out of the 8,419 hectares required for the project, about 8,100 hectares of individual farmers are land. The work of this expressway was stopped due to protests in Kolhapur and its surrounding sugar belt districts.
Will be established as a religious and cultural corridor
Shaktipeeth Expressway will be established as a religious and cultural corridor, aimed at connecting religious places in Vidarbha, Marathwada and western Maharashtra. Expressway will pass through Wardha, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Latur, Beed, Dharashiv, Solapur, Kolhapur and Sindhudurg. Rs 20,000 crore has now been allocated for the project. About Rs 80,000 crore is estimated to be spent by completion. Officials say that with the completion of this expressway, the journey from Nagpur to Goa will be completed in 8 hours. It takes 18 hours now.
