According to the legend, in ancient times a moneylender had two daughters. Both the daughters of the moneylender were very religious. Along with performing puja regularly, she kept fast on every full moon day. The elder daughter used to observe the fast of Purnima with full rituals, but the younger daughter’s fast was broken midway every time.
After some time both the daughters got married. After a few years of marriage, the elder daughter gave birth to a healthy child, but the child of the younger daughter died soon after birth. Many of the children of the younger daughter died one after the other, after which one day with a sad heart she went to the well-known Pandit of the village.
The Pandit told him, ‘You never completed the fast of Purnima. For this reason your child dies as soon as it is born. If you observe the fast of Purnima properly, then nothing will happen to your children. On the advice of Pandit ji, the moneylender’s younger daughter kept a fast on Purnima for a long time, after which she gave birth to a boy, but he also died within a few days.
Seeing her son dead, his mother was filled with grief and started crying with her child in her lap. Within no time his elder sister arrived there. As soon as the elder sister’s lehenga touched the child, he started crying. Seeing this, the elder sister was surprised and said to her sister, ‘He is not dead.’ Is alive. The second sister replied, ‘He was already dead.’ He came alive because of your luck and tenacity.
