Share market holiday: Today is a holiday in the Indian stock market and all businesses will remain closed. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, there is a stock market holiday on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. Let us tell you that Maharashtra was formed on 1 May 1960. Both the major exchanges of the Indian stock market, BSE and NSE office, are located in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. In such a situation, Indian markets will be closed on this special occasion of Maharashtra Day. Today’s holiday is applicable to all segments of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). That is, there will be no business of any kind in the market today.

Both major exchanges of the Indian stock market will open on Friday

May 1 is Maharashtra Day as well as Labor Day. The holiday list on the website of BSE and NSE also mentions May 1 holiday. According to information received from the BSE and NSE websites, there will be no trading in equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives and securities lending and browing (SLB) segment. After this holiday today, on Friday, May 2, Indian stock markets will do normal businesses like the rest of the days. However, after Friday, there will be a two -day holiday in the market on Saturday and Sunday. Let us tell you that on Wednesday, the Indian stock market was closed in red mark.

Business will start in second session on multi commodity exchange

While the stock market will remain closed on one hand, on the other hand commodity trading will remain closed for a fixed session and later it will open for business. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed during the first session to last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but the second session will open from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Let us tell you that MCX is traded in all commodity like gold, silver, crude oil, agricultural products.
