Shashi Tharoor met Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Russia, Moscow on a private tour

Moscow: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov during an event in Moscow on Wednesday. Tharoor has gone to Russia on a private journey to promote a documentary series based on his book “Inglerius Empire”. Throor, who visited Russia, said in a post on the social media forum X, “It was nice to meet old friend Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov during ‘Primakov Readings’ in Moscow.” Priimkov Readings is an annual international meeting focused on international relations and world economy.
On whose invitation Russia reached Tharoor
Tharoor has arrived at the invitation of Russia’s government television network RT. RT has produced a 10 -part documentary series based on his 2017 book. The documentary series is based on the speech given by him in Tharoor’s 2015 Oxford Union Debate, the theme of “Does the UK want to compensate its former colonies?”
Tharoor mentions Operation Sindoor
Shashi Tharoor also met former Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Andrei Denisov, who is now the first vice president of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Union Council. People familiar with the case said that Tharoor informed senior Russian officials about India’s fight against Operation Sindoor and terrorism. Tharoor also discussed issues such as Iran-Israel struggle, Gaza status and India-Russia relations.
Tharoor played a big role
Tharoor recently played a similar role when he led one of the seven all -party delegations sent by the government to 33 countries. Tharoor visited the US and four other countries to explain India’s stance regarding the 22 April Pahalgam terrorist attack and subsequent military action.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said without directly mentioning Tharoor that this is “country first” for the party, but for some individuals it is “Modi first”.
