The group whose hand was in removing Sheikh Hasina has now formed a political party named NCP. Nahid Islam, who was an advisor in the Yunus government, formed the NCP on 28 February 2025. The NCP has the support of Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. NCP is running a protest campaign across Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s overthrow in Gopalganj is the ancestral home of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There is also a memorial of Bang Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Gopalganj itself. NCP students raised slogans against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the rally. The clash with Hasina’s supporters began after the slogans. On seeing this, the ruckus increased. He said- “Preventing youth from holding a peaceful rally to celebrate a one-year anniversary of their revolutionary movement is a shameful violation of their fundamental rights. Criminals should be identified as soon as possible and should be held completely accountable. There is no place for such violence against any citizen of Bangladesh.
