Mumbai: The arrest of Shiva Kumar, the main accused in the murder of former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddiqui has sent shockwaves through the investigation. Interrogated by the Special Task Force ( STF), Shiva has admitted to firing the fatal shots, revealing a chilling plot and a complex web of handlers linked to the notorious Bishnoi gang.

Shiva, a resident of Gandara near Bahraich, was apprehended while attempting to flee the country near the Nepal border with his four associates. He has confessed to using an Australian Glock pistol, provided by his handler, to fire six rounds at Siddiqui, three of which proved fatal.

The investigation has now uncovered a crucial detail, the three shooters, Shiva, Dharamraj Kashyap, and Gurmail Singh, were each operating under the direction of different handlers. Shiva and Dharamraj Kashyap were managed by Shubham Lonkar, while Gurmail Singh’s handler was Yasin Akhtar.

The arrests in the murder case of Siddique were made after the investigating agencies kept surveillance on all the suspects. It was found that they had been in constant communication with Gautam through internet calls, using mobile phones purchased in Lucknow. These late-night conversations, coupled with their suspicious purchases, alerted authorities to the possibility of an imminent escape.

Lonkar, according to Shiva, was responsible for recruiting shooters, while the instructions for weapons and logistics, including food and drink, were provided by Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi, reportedly residing in Canada, is believed to be the mastermind behind the murder, though the motive remains unclear.

During the interrogation, Shiva admitted that after carrying the murder on October 12, the three shooters — one himself, the other — Dharamraj Kashyap and Gurmail Singh — were to reassemble at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra in Jammu and Kashmir.
