Monsoon is wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand. Somewhere due to heavy rains, river-drains are in spate, and due to cloudburst, people’s lives are in trouble. Meanwhile, today the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of rain and people have been appealed not to leave their homes unnecessarily. Due to heavy rains, the National Highway near Chamoli and the National Highway near Kameda is blocked.

Cloud burst in Dehradun, shops are left

The rain broke the 74 -year record in the capital Dehradun on Monday. Dehradun has received 200 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. After 1951, the Doon Valley has seen such torrential rains. After a cloudburst in Maldevata area of Dehradun, the flood took place with him. Five shops built on the river along the river kept flowing into the water like a straw and people could not do anything. Rivers in Dehradun are flowing above Danger level due to heavy rains. The situation is such that many cattle were swept away in the river in Raipur. The water flood took away several cattle after another and was unable to do anything.

Temple drowned, people imprisoned in homes

The Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Dehradun has a similar condition where the Tamsa river is flowing in the form of Rudra. Hearing the sound of water and getting scared to see the speed. The temple is drowned and the people of the surrounding area are either imprisoned in homes or have gone to safe places as the meteorological alert continues even today. People are being appealed to take precautions.

At the same time, torrential rains in Haldwani have affected life. There is a situation of waterlogging in many areas. The sewer coming out of the forest post is completely in spate due to which water has entered the surrounding houses. Although the municipal corporation and administration are on alert mode, the problem is that the rains of rain continue in the state even today.

Kedarnath yatra banned till 14 August

The Rudraprayag district administration has stopped the Kedarnath Yatra till 14 August for the next three days in view of the warning of heavy rains. Rudraprayag District Magistrate Prateek Jain said that the Meteorological Center in Dehradun has predicted heavy rainfall at many places across the state including Rudraprayag on August 12, 13 and 14. He said, “In view of the warning of passengers, the journey of Kedarnath Dham has been temporarily stopped for the next three days in view of the safety of passengers,” he said.
