Gill also belongs to Punjab and on the occasion of this disaster, he has also written a sentimental message of his siblings with his sad heart. Posting from his official X account, Gill wrote, “It is very sad to see his Punjab flood. Punjab will always be stronger than any disaster and we will recover from it. My prayers are with all the affected families. I stand firm with my people.”

Let us know that the floods in Punjab have killed at least 30 people, while thousands of people have been displaced because more than 10 districts of Punjab have been submerged due to torrential rains and release of water from dams. After heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers are in spate with many seasonal small rivers.

At the same time, in some places, the Ravi river has increased ten times more than its normal width, causing the houses to drown, large parts of the crops have been washed away and thousands of families have been forced to leave their homes. According to official data, till Monday, September 1, more than 1,300 villages across Punjab were submerged and 6,582 people were transferred to 122 relief camps. Districts like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar are the most affected.

Gill’s message of solidarity has come at a time when Punjabi film stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Amy Virk and Sonam Bajwa have come forward to help the flood victims through Dan and Relief works. Dosanjh, especially, has adopted ten villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar in association with non-government organizations and local authorities, and his team is providing essential items such as food, water and medical aid.
