In this direction, another big step has been taken to get Bangalore free from jam. A tender has been drawn to build a twin tunnel road to connect North-South Bangalore.
Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-smile), which is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up by the Government of Karnataka for the management and implementation of the large infra project in Bengaluru, has fired a global tender for an ambitious underground twin tunnel road project. With the formation of this tunnel, the journey from North to South or South to North Bagalore will be made signal free. That is, people will save time and will not have to face the jam. Significantly, in the last few years, the problem of jam in Bengaluru has increased rapidly. Due to this, people have to face a lot of trouble.
17,698 crore will be spent on this project
The twin tunnel road to connect the North-South of Bengaluru will cost Rs 17,698 crore. This will be underground twin tunnel road. This project will be completed in two packages on the Build-Open-Operate-TRANSFER, the estimated cost of which is ₹ 17,698 crore (GST different). A time of 4 years 2 months has been fixed for every package to complete the construction work. This underground road will be built from Hebbal Estim Mall Junction to Silk Board KSRP Junction. The project will have a three-lane twin tunnel road, including two and three-lane multiple entry-exit ramps.
Tender expected to open by September
The tender for this project is expected to open by September. To participate in this, contractors should be registered with BBMP or equivalent government agencies like CPWD, KPWD, Railways, MES, National Highway or other state departments. Under this project, Package 1, Habbal Estim Mall Junction to Race Course (Seshadri Road), is 8.748 km long and its estimated cost is Rs 8,770 crore. Package 2, from Race Course Junction to Silk Board (8.748 km to 16.745 km), is an estimated cost of Rs 8,928 crore, which includes earnest amounts of Rs 44.64 crore (EMD).
