-Finance Minister paid tribute to industrialist Ratan Tata at TCS headquarters.

Mexico City/New Delhi, October 18 (HS). Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the Tech Leaders Roundtable at the Chamber of Commerce in Guadalajara here on Thursday. Sitharaman discussed ‘strengthening technical cooperation between India and Mexico’ during the meeting.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement issued on ‘X’ post on Friday that the objective of this meeting was to bring together global technology leaders, which included representatives of major Indian IT companies working in this sector. The roundtable was organized by the Mexican Association of Information Technology Industry and Tata Consulting Services in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Mexico and the Department of Economic Affairs.

Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister talked about the opportunities and responsibilities for like-minded economies and how India and Mexico can cooperate to benefit each other. Sitharaman said Mexico is thriving through the contiguous region, which has resulted in collaboration among multinational companies and exchange of talents as well as joint efforts for risk mitigation.

The Union Finance Minister highlighted the rapid transformation taking place in India while working towards the goal of a developed India by 2047. Citing new areas of development and cooperation between India and Mexico, Sitharaman said Mexico is flourishing through the contiguous region, which has resulted in cooperation between multinational companies. Sitharaman said India-Mexico can explore working together in these areas through collaboration between startups as well as academic institutions.

Sitharaman said the challenges for large economies are not just around growth, but also bridging the gap and creating opportunities for all. This requires responsible capitalism. Earlier, he paid tribute to eminent industrialist Ratan Tata at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) headquarters in Guadalajara, Mexico. Along with this, the Finance Minister addressed the senior employees of TCS Latam.
