So far 35 died due to poisonous liquor in Bihar, 79 admitted to hospital, opposition raised questions on liquor ban.

Patna. The death toll in the liquor tragedy in Siwan, Bihar has now reached 28, while a total of 35 people have lost their lives in the state. Out of these, 28 people are from Siwan and 5 are from Saran district. After the incident, 79 people have been admitted to Siwan Sadar Hospital and Basantpur Primary Health Center. Of these, 13 seriously ill people have been sent to Patna for treatment. The death toll on October 17 was 25. Today it increased by 10 more. There were also reports of some victims losing their eyesight.

According to the Public Relations Officer of Siwan, 30 patients have been discharged from the hospital. Apart from this, post-mortem of 28 dead bodies has been done and their bodies have been handed over to their families. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the district administration has constituted a medical board of 5 senior doctors and arrangements have been made for 30 beds in Siwan Sadar Hospital, 20 beds in Basantpur and 30 beds in Sub-Divisional Hospital Maharajganj.

Separate arrangements were made for treatment in hospitals

Apart from this, 30 beds have also been reserved in Basantpur and Maharajganj sub-divisional hospitals for the treatment of sick people. Hospitals have been instructed to remain in alert mode for the next 24 hours. Additional ambulances have been arranged by the District Officer in the affected panchayats.

Opposition raised questions on liquor ban policy in Bihar

The opposition has raised questions on the liquor prohibition policy of the Bihar government. RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that due to the ideological ambiguity and weak will of the Chief Minister, prohibition has become ineffective in Bihar today.

Deputy CM assured of strict action

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the government has taken the matter seriously and the culprits will not be spared. He said, the government is investigating this matter and the people behind it will be exposed. People doing liquor business are associated with RJD. Prohibition has been implemented with everyone’s consent, and everyone should cooperate to make it successful.
