US President Donald Trump has got a big relief on the issue of tariffs. The US federal appeal court on Thursday temporarily restored tariffs imposed on other countries by President Trump. Explain that earlier a federal court of America had banned the order to increase tariffs on imports from other countries using emergency powers by President Donald Trump.
What has the court said in the verdict?
The Federal Circuit American appeal court in Washington has said that it is postponing the decision of the trump administration to consider the appeal of the Trump administration. The court has ordered the plaintiff in this case by June 5 and the Trump administration to reply by 9 June. This decision given by the appellate court is considered to be a big relief for the Donald Trump administration.
Why was the ban imposed?
Earlier on Wednesday, a federal court banned Donald Trump’s decision to extend the tariff using emergency powers. This decision of the court was considered a major setback for Donald Trump’s economic policies. In fact, a total of 7 cases were filed against the tariff implemented by the Donald Trump administration. In cases, it was alleged that Trump was misusing his rights and deciding the country’s business policy. These cases were filed in the US International Trade Court. This court mainly hears civil cases related to the International Trade Law.
A bench of three judges of the Trade Court of New York had said in its order- “The President has ordered to impose worldwide and counter-duty by going beyond his rights received by the International Emergency Economic Power Act (IEEPA).” The trade court had said that the Constitution has given the power to impose tax and tariff to the Congress, but to the Congress.
