Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the new white ball coach of its cricket team on Friday, 9 May. Shukri Konrad has been made the new white-ball head coach of South Africa’s men’s team. He replaced Rob Walter, who resigned from his post after not qualifying for the final of the Champions Trophy in the Protians.

Conrad, who has worked as a red-ball coach of South Africa, will serve as a white-ball coach until the 2027 ODI World Cup. The first task in Conrad’s new role will begin in July against New Zealand and Zimbabwe with the T20 series. “Shukri’s track record with the Red-Ball team speaks on its own by CSA’s national teams and high performance director Aanocha Encway. He has laid a concrete foundation and set a strong identity in a test atmosphere. I am excited to see them bringing them profiles and structure to white-ball space.”

Under the leadership of Conrad, South Africa recently qualified for the final of the ICC World Test Championship against Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Conrad said that Protiaz has the foundation to achieve big goals in future. Conrad said, “I am really honored when I get the responsibility of leading the national team in all three formats. I am really excited about the possibilities ahead. South African cricket has an incredible white ball talent. There is a strong foundation for construction and I believe that we have everything necessary to achieve something special.”

Speaking further, he said, “We want to be the best in the world in all the three forms of the game and there is no doubt that this is my number one goal for the protiaz.”
