South Africa’s Test team announced for Zimbabwe tour, 5 new faces got a chance
The South Africa team will visit Zimbabwe, just after the World Test Championship final, for which a 16 -member team has been announced. This squad consists of five players who have not played a single Test match so far. Some senior players have been rested, while giving an opportunity to the young players, an attempt has been made to fill new enthusiasm in the team.
The South African team will visit Zimbabwe after the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final, where the two -match Test series will be played from June 28. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 16 -member team on Friday for this series. Many big names have been rested in the team, while 5 new faces have been included in the Test team for the first time.
The CSA has rested six players playing the World Test Championship Finals from the series, including names like Aden Markram, Triston Stabs, Marco Janson and Kagiso Rabada. Also, Denne Patterson has not been given a place in the team and it is believed that he can retire after the WTC final.
The most discussed in the team is about the 19-year-old batsman Luan-Dray Pretorius. He has played only 6 first class matches but in the first 5 matches, he scored 3 centuries, on which he has got a chance in the Test team. Apart from them, Divalad Brevis, Lesgo Senokwane, Kodi Yusuf and Pranal Subreyan are also in the queue of debut.
Dveld Brevis was last selected in the Test squad of Bangladesh tour but did not get a chance to debut. This time he has strengthened his claim by scoring 573 runs in domestic cricket. Coach Shukri Konrad praised Brevis, saying that he has shown tremendous maturity in the last 12 months and his skill and growth is clearly visible in playing long formats.
Talking about fast bowling, Garald Koetzi, Nandre Burger and Lizad Williams are out due to injury. In such a situation, now Quena Mafaka with Lungi Angidi will have the responsibility of fast bowling. Veteran batsman Temba Bavuma will handle the captaincy in the team.
