Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Monday announced to create a dedicated portal for immediate resolution of farmers’ complaints and gave strict instructions to the officials to settle the problems of the farmers quickly. According to PTI news, the Agriculture Minister held a high level meeting to review the complaints received through call centers and other portals from farmers. During this, he said that an integrated dedicated portal should be created instead of different portals for farmers’ complaints, suggestions and other assistance, so that farmers can get more convenience and ensure timely and effective solutions to their problems.
No delay will be tolerated
Shivraj Singh Chauhan will regularly review the complaints received from the farmers through this portal so that their issues can be resolved soon. He clarified that no delay will be tolerated due to the problems of farmers. In the meeting, the minister sought information from the officials about the complaints of the farmers, most of which were related to fake or poor quality fertilizers, seeds and pesticides. He said that it is our priority to save farmers from fraud. Therefore, the sale of fake and substandard fertilizers, seeds and pesticides should be strictly banned.
Wrote letters to the Chief Ministers of all the states
The Agriculture Minister also emphasized that the farmers should have a sure supply of high quality agricultural inputs, coordinating with the state governments. He informed that in this regard, he has already written letters to the Chief Ministers of all the states and will discuss this subject through further video conferencing. Chauhan also expressed concern about the sale of illegal bio-stimulants and said that only 146 approved bio-stimulants should be available in the market, while the sale of any other approved bio-stimulants should be banned.
On the complaints related to the installments of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and the claims of the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, he said that both these schemes are very important, so every complaint related to them should be resolved immediately. Also, the authorities have to actively contact farmers to take feedback and understand their problems.
