Sri Lankan team announced for Zimbabwe T20 series, Hasranga will be out and Astika will be captain

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced its team for the T20 series against Zimbabwe before the Asia Cup 2025. A team with 17 players has been announced for Zimbabwe’s upcoming T20 tour. Charith Asanka will continue the captaincy of the team while star all-rounder Vanindu Hasranga is out of Sri Lanka’s T20 group.

Hasranga last represented his country in this format during a New Zealand tour in January this year. In this team, T20 players like Kusal Mendis, Mathisha Pathirana, Dasun Shanaka, Mahish Thakarana will also be seen playing in this team. In this team, Vishen Halbagi and Dushan Hemantha have also been included in the T20 team for the first time. At the same time, senior fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera will return to the Sri Lankan team after one and a half years.

The three-match T20 series Asia Cup between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be played between September 3 to September 7 just before 2025. All three matches of the series will be organized by Harare’s prestigious Harare Sports Club. The Sri Lankan team will see this series as the Asia Cup dress rehearsal and he would like to overcome all its weaknesses before the Asia Cup.
