In Indian film history, Sridevi’s name is one of the stars who won the audience’s heart not only in Hindi cinema but also in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She was called the first female superstar of Indian cinema due to the best skill in acting, but as much discussion was as her films, her personal life was equally interesting. During his career, many co-stars continued to talk about their relationships, the names of Mithun Chakraborty, Jeetendra and many others were included in this list, but there was a relationship that could never be completed, yet the relationship was between Rajinikanth and Sridevi.
From onscreen pair to deep friendship
Rajinikanth and Sridevi acted in more than 20 films together. Regardless of the language, the chemistry of this pair used to set the screen on fire every time. His films did wonders at the box office and a deep friendship between the two behind the curtain also started to flourish. The ease and respect between the two was such that people started considering them as an ideal pair in real life. Love story left incomplete
An old anecdote, which is the late director K.K. Balachander shared, narrates Rajinikanth’s feelings. He said that Rajinikanth had made up his mind to propose to Sridevi and once he was about to keep this proposal in his home entrance ceremony, but as soon as he reached home, suddenly the electricity went away. Rajinikanth considered it a bad omen and left without saying anything. Rajinikanth then married Lata Rangachari in 1981, while Sridevi married famous producer Boney Kapoor in 1996.

When Rajinikanth became ill, Sridevi fasted
In 2011, when Rajinikanth was admitted to the hospital due to dehydration and difficulty in breathing, his condition became critical. He was taken to Singapore for treatment. Sridevi was very worried in this difficult time. He worshiped Shirdi Sai Baba and fasted for seven days for his early health benefits. Not only this, she also went to the Sai Baba temple in Pune especially and prayed for Rajinikanth’s safety. His prayers and blessings of millions of fans across the country paid off and Rajinikanth returned to healthy.
Rajinikanth was broken by the death of Sridevi
Sridevi suddenly died on 24 February 2018. He died of drowning in a bathtub during attending a family wedding ceremony in Dubai. This sad news shook the entire film industry and the country. Rajinikanth expressed deep condolences on social media and wrote, ‘I am shocked and very upset. I have lost a dear friend and this industry has lost a true legend. My condolences are with his family and friends. You will always remember, Sridevi. ‘ He immediately reached Mumbai to give him a final farewell and paid his last tribute to his beloved friend with moist eyes.
