Dehradun: Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu (SS Sandhu) took a meeting through video conferencing with District Magistrates and DFO regarding Eco Park in the Secretariat on Tuesday. The Chief Secretary said that since most of the state’s land area is forest area, it can play an important role in the economy of the state. Keeping in mind the ecology, we also have to provide employment to the people of the state. Employment can be provided to local people by creating eco-park.
Chief Secretary (SS Sandhu) took information from all the District Magistrates about the updated status of the proposals in the districts. Said that during the season, more tourists are coming to various tourist places of the state than their capacity. There is a need to develop the nearby beautiful places from the point of view of eco-tourism and divert the tourists towards these tourist places.
This will create employment opportunities around these new tourist destinations. He directed to develop more and more eco parks around the Chardham Yatra route. Said that Udham Singh Nagar is the gateway to Kumaon region, there are many water bodies around it, which can be developed without harming the environment and linked to the economy.
CM Dhami extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state on the festival of “Shri Ganesh Chaturthi”.
Chief Secretary (SS Sandhu) also gave instructions to use minimum concrete and steel in developing the eco park. Said that maximum wood and bamboo should be used.
Chief Secretary (SS Sandhu) said that time limit should be set for each level so that all the work is completed on time. Projects should be continuously monitored. Proposals related to Forest Department should be sent to the Forest Department immediately. All the District Magistrates gave detailed information on the proposals of their respective districts. District Magistrates informed that DPR has been prepared for most of the proposals. Work has already started on some schemes.
