Stamp duty charges: Taking a big decision towards women empowerment, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a big decision for millions of women of the state. The UP cabinet has approved a proposal to give 1 percent discount in stamp duty on the purchase of property up to Rs 1 crore for women. Let us tell you that earlier, there was a discount of 1 percent in stamp duty only on the purchase of property up to Rs 10 lakh for women in Uttar Pradesh.

7 percent stamp duty is imposed on property purchase in UP

On purchasing property in Uttar Pradesh, 7 percent stamp duty is to be paid. On purchasing property up to Rs 10 lakh in women’s name, 6 percent stamp duty is to be paid with a discount of 1 percent. According to the old rules, the property purchased in the name of women saves only a maximum of Rs 10,000 in stamp duty. However, after getting approval from the cabinet, now up to Rs 1 lakh can be saved with a discount of 1 percent on stamp duty for property purchased in the name of women. According to cabinet decisions, women will get 1 percent discount on stamp duty on property to be purchased in both urban and rural areas.

Stamp department’s proposal approved in cabinet

The State Stamp Department had proposed a 1 percent discount on stamp duty for women up to Rs 1 crore for women, which was approved by the Yogi Adityanath government today. Let us tell you that a total of 38 proposals were made in a cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow on Tuesday, out of which 37 proposals were approved by the cabinet.
