During the annual Jatra (religious procession) at the Shirgaon temple in Goa, a stampede was killed and more than 50 people were seriously injured. The accident occurred when there was a sudden chaos in the midst of a huge crowd, due to which people started running around to save their lives. Eyewitnesses said that the situation had become very scary during the stampede and people were trying to get out on each other. Police and emergency services reached the spot as soon as the incident was received and immediate relief and rescue work was started. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospitals.
