Tension erupted at siliguri: There was a fight between two groups over a local cricket match on Wednesday in Bagrakot area of ​​Siliguri, West Bengal. At first the debate started, but the matter soon deteriorated and stones started running fiercely on the streets from both sides. Many vehicles and houses were damaged in this quarrel. The police had to leave tear gas shells to control the situation. So far many people have been arrested in this case.

Cricket dispute caught violent turn

According to the information, the quarrel started on June 29 during a cricket match, when a young man was beaten up. After this, another youth was attacked in Mahavirasthan area with the intention of taking revenge on Tuesday. Due to these incidents, tension in both groups increased and finally both sides came face to face on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, a clash between the two groups in Bagrakot area took a fierce form. On seeing this, stone pelting started in the area. The miscreants targeted many trains and houses. The situation deteriorated so much that the local people were imprisoned in the houses in panic.

Police intervention and use of tear gas

As soon as the information was received, the team of Siliguri Metropolitan Police reached the spot. The police first tried to convince the people, but the crowd remained violent. Finally, the police had to resort to tear gas to control the situation. After the tear gas was released, the crowd dispersed and the atmosphere calmed to some extent.

Deputy Commissioner of Police B.C. Giving information about the case, Thakur said, “The clash increased due to the controversy over the cricket match. During the stone pelting, we tried to stop it and had to use tear gas. Some people have been detained and police posts have been set up to maintain peace in the area.”
