New Delhi, 22 November (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the Indian community in Guyana to participate in the Mahakumbh and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in India in January 2025. He called the expatriate members as national ambassadors i.e. ambassadors of India’s culture and values ​​and urged them to play a bigger role in strengthening relations between the two countries.

He said, despite being across the ocean, our cultural ties with Mother India are strong. The Prime Minister addressed a gathering of Indian expatriates at the National Center in Georgetown. President Irfan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and other dignitaries were present at the event. The Prime Minister was given an exceptionally warm welcome upon reaching the venue.

The Prime Minister underlined India’s rapid progress and transformation, especially in the areas of technology, infrastructure and sustainability. He highlighted achievements such as financial inclusion, women-led growth and inclusive growth. Reflecting on the special India-Guyana relationship, he emphasized that several new agreements have been signed during his historic State Visit and will further enhance cooperation in the areas of food security, defence, energy cooperation and climate change action. Will strengthen.

The Prime Minister thanked President Ali for his hospitality and for conferring the ‘Order of Excellence’, Guyana’s highest national award. He dedicated the honor to the special bond of friendship between India and Guyana, which he said is based on shared heritage and family ties. Reflecting on the history of the India-Guyana visit, he praised the community’s adaptability to all circumstances, its cultural richness and its role in shaping the destiny of Guyana.
