The Himalayan region in India and some other fault lines (eg Kutch, Northeast India) is high at the risk of earthquake, as the Indian plate is hitting the Eurasian plate.
Earthquake intensity on Richter scale
In an earthquake of 4 to 4.9 intensity, the goods kept in the house can fall down from their place. A 5 to 5.9 magnitude earthquake can also move heavy goods and furniture. The base of the building may crack in 6 to 6.9. Buildings fall from 7 to 7.9. There is a risk of tsunami in 8 to 8.9 and there is more destruction. 9 or more is the worst destruction.
