Cairo: Sudan’s army has targeted the airport located in the Darfur area in the airport. It is claimed that it was under control of notorious paramilitary groups. A suspected Amirati military aircraft was destroyed and 40 suspected mercenar soldiers were killed in this attack. This information was given by Sudani officials and a rebellious advisor on Thursday.

Killed Colombian fighters

According to Sudan, at least 40 Colombian fighters died in this attack at Nayala Airport on Wednesday. At the same time a consignment of weapons and equipment was destroyed, which was sent to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) by the United Arab Emirates. The advisor of two Sudani military officers and a rebel leader associated with RSF gave this information.

Conflict continues from 2023

The conflict in Sudan continues since April 2023. There are deadly clashes between Sudani Army and RSF in the capital Khartum and other areas here. It has now taken the form of a complete civil war. So far, tens of thousands of people have lost their lives in this. Apart from this, more than 1.4 crore people have been displaced. Due to this, a large part of the country has reached the verge of famine. This war has revealed crimes like genocide and rape, which are investigating the International Criminal Court (ICC) war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Nayala Airport attacked with fighter jet

Sudan TV reported in the report that the aircraft that the Sudani army targeted had landed from a military base in the Arab Gulf region and landed at Nayala Airport. But he was damaged by Sudani fighter jets. Sudan carried out a strong message against foreign intervention by carrying out this attack. After the incident, Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote on X (X) that he has ordered an inquiry into the death of Colombian mercenaries.

RSF captured Darfur’s capital

The airport of Nayala, the capital of the south Darfur, was captured by the RSF last year. The Sudani government alleges that the RSF has converted the Civil Airport to a military base from where weapons are being supplied and gold smuggling.

What is UN report

The United Nations report released in April confirmed that the Colombian mercenary soldiers are present in Darfur and were appointed by a private security company for RSF. The Colombian Foreign Ministry also accepted their presence and announced to create a special quick response team for their safe return.

UAE banned Sudani aircraft

Here the Sudani Aviation Agency alleged that on Wednesday, UAE stopped Sudani aircraft from landing at its airports. A Sudani aircraft was not allowed to fly at Abu Dhabi Airport. However, UAE’s Foreign Ministry did not comment on it. The relations between Sudan’s government and the UAE have deteriorated due to allegations of supporting RSF in recent months. Sudan broke diplomatic relations with UAE this year.

RSF siege El-Fashar

The satellite image report of Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) of Yale University, US-located, stated that the RSF has completely surrounded El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. According to HRL, RSF is controlling every route in the city. Citizens who want to get out have to pass through a 50 meter wide checkpoint. RSF has been trying to capture the city for the last one year. Since June, two markets, three schools and two mosques have been bombed by RSF. (AP)
