Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat bridge starts reconstruction, target to complete the work in 18 months: Sultanganj-Guwani-Bridge-Reconstruction-Begins
A major step has been taken towards repairing and reconstruction of the damaged part of Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat bridge. In compliance with the instructions given by the Honorable High Court, Patna on 14 September 2023, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited has started the construction work from Pier-9 to Pier-9 from 6 June 2025.
Start from reaching access road
According to Mr. Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Road Construction Department, the access road is being constructed rapidly in the first phase of the project, so that the ease of traffic can be ensured. Giving priority to this work, it has been decided that people should get relief as soon as possible.
Preparation for the construction of composite beam (girders)
Considering the quality and technical strength of the reconstruction work, the construction of Composite Beam (Girders) is being started according to the standards and design in the approved workshop. Special technical preparations are going on for this, making the structure of the new bridge strong and long -term.
Improvement in foundation based on technical advice of IIT ROORKEE
The technical suggestions obtained by IIT Roorkee are being implemented to make the structure of the bridge safe and durable in future. According to them, necessary improvements are being done in the foundation between Pier-9 to Pier-13, so that the stability and security of the entire structure can be increased.
Target of perfection in 18 months, clear instructions issued
Mr. Singh also informed that the entire work – from repairing the damaged part, the goal of completion of access path and the remaining works – has been set to complete in the next 18 months. Clear orders have been given to the engineers of the bridge construction corporation that the work should not only be within the deadline, but its quality should not be compromised.
Establishment of Project Implementation Unit (PIU)
A strong to ensure monitoring and implementation of reconstruction works Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Has been constituted. It has been appointed to experienced structural engineers who are constantly reviewing the quality and technical standards of the work.
Monitoring of independent technical experts
To maintain technical superiority in this project, an independent team of experts from IIT and other prestigious institutions is inspecting and giving guidance from time to time. From this it is being ensured that high standard is followed at every level.
Multi-Level Monitoring: Periodically review and inspection
Special monitoring system has been implemented to track the continuous monitoring and progress of the work:
The chairman of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited will review the project every month.
Managing Director will inspect the site on biennial (every 15 days) basis.
Engineer Head (Work Management) of Road Construction Department will also conduct monthly inspections and review meetings will be held at the departmental level.
