Sunil Gavaskar Reaction on Punjab Kings Defeat: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 8 wickets in their fourth IPL final in the qualifier-1 of IPL 2025 played in Mullamppur. In this match, Punjab’s batting shattered badly and the entire team was reduced to just 101 runs. After this, RCB achieved this minor target in just 10 overs at the loss of two wickets.

Seeing the poor batting of Punjab in this match, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was also surprised and he hit the Punjab Kings team during the commentary. He termed this shameful performance as ‘incredible’ and ‘suicide’. Punjab, as usual, decided to attack with the first ball in this match, but despite losing the wickets continuously, he did not try to stay on the wicket and Gavaskar did not like this at all.

Gavaskar questioned when Stoinis was dismissed by Suyash Sharma in the 11th over, “This is incredible. It’s like suicide, isn’t it?”

Apart from Gavaskar, many other veterans were not happy with the approach of Punjab and he also expressed his disappointment over the performance of Iyer & Company. At the same time, after a crushing defeat against RCB, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer also admitted that a big mistake was made from the team, but he did not leave hope. Iyer said that the war is not over yet and the team will have to handle itself for the next challenge. He talked about focusing on batting.

Talking in the post match prescription, Iyer said, “This is not to forget the day, but to think where we have made a mistake. We have been losing wickets continuously. We had done good planning but could not take it on the field. We have lost this match but the battle of the tournament is not yet over. We have to get down with better preparations next time.”
