Sunil Gavaskar selected his best XI, Gill, Abhishek along with Sanju Samson for the Asia Cup
The squad of Team India for the Asia Cup 2025 has been declared, but the debate about the playing XI is still going on. Meanwhile, former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has chosen his best eleven for Asia of India, in which he has given Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma the responsibility of opening. At the same time, Sanju Samson has also got a place.

There is a lot of discussion among the fans about the final combination of Team India regarding this tournament to be held in Dubai from 9 September. Meanwhile, former captain and veteran commentator Sunil Gavaskar chose his best playing XI for India’s Asia.
Speaking to Sports Today, Gavaskar said that Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma would open in his team. Tilak Verma at number three, captain Suryakumar Yadav at fourth, while Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson have been placed at fifth and sixth.
Gavaskar expressed confidence in Samson, saying that he can play well in the middle order. “Sanju is a very talented player, he can adjust. Whether it is number 5 or 6, he is confirmed as a wicketkeeper batter.”
Gavaskar has placed Akshar Patel at number seven. In the bowling, he has included Jaspreet Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty.
In this best XI of Gavaskar, players like Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Shivam Dubey and Harshit Rana are excluded. He said that it is difficult for these players to make space, but the team management definitely has backup options.
