Supported IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma during the days of struggle, and then herself became an IRS officer.
IRS Shraddha Joshi: We might have heard stories of IAS or IPS officers being academically bright and studious during our school days. However, the story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma is quite different as he had failed in class 12th.
His journey from 12th fail to DIG of CISF Mumbai Police is remarkable and a source of hope and inspiration for thousands of UPSC aspirants. Coming from an ordinary background, the journey of UPSC was not easy for Manoj.
He had scored third division marks in classes 9 and 10 and failed in all subjects except Hindi in class 12. However, his life began to change when he met the love of his life, Shraddha Joshi.
She stood by him in every happiness and sorrow. Although she came from a good family, when she had nothing she lived with it and worked in the ‘wheat mill’ and the ‘library’. From driving a tempo to sleeping with beggars and walking dogs, he did it all.
Instead of being hurt by his poverty, she chose to live with him and accompany him as a dog walker. He promised her that if she said yes to his proposal, he would change the world for her, and indeed he did.
He failed three times, but she was still with him. She was his biggest support system during his struggles. With their support and love, he cleared UPSC in his fourth attempt and secured All India Rank-121.
She herself was a UPSC aspirant and is currently an IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer. She started her career in civil services in the year 2005 as Deputy Collector of Nainital, where she worked on issues related to rural development, tourism, environment and women development.
In the year 2007, he was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) where he worked on tax system implementation in several departments like Service Tax, Central Excise, Customs, etc. Subsequently, he worked on tax investigations in goods and services. Tax (GST) Department.
