Supreme Court’s major decision on stray dogs, the case is sent to a three -judge bench

New Delhi: The case related to stray dogs was heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai sent the case to a three -judge bench. The case has been handed over to the bench of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria. The Supreme Court will hear the case on Thursday. The decision has been taken to review the order of the two -judge bench.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on August 11 ordered that all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR be caught and sent to the shelter home immediately. Also, it was clarified that the caught dogs would not be released again on the streets under any circumstances.

Order to send stray dogs to shelter home

The apex court ordered all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR to be kept in shelters in 8 weeks. The court had said that all stray dogs of Delhi-NCR should be picked up from residential areas and kept in shelter homes. The court also warned that whatever organization or person obstructs this work, strict action will be taken against him.

This order is the Supreme Court Justice J.K. B. Pardiwala and Justice R. The bench of Mahadevan has been given. The bench said during the hearing that she is taking this step in public interest, so no feelings should be included in it. The court had said that only the arguments of the central government will be heard on this subject and the petition of any other side, even animal lovers will not be heard.

“No dog will not be allowed to adopt”

The court also said that these shelter homes should have professional people who can handle dogs, sterilize and vaccinate them. In addition, CCTV cameras should be installed to ensure that no dog escapes from there. The court also said that no dog will be allowed to adopt, so that the officers can complete their work to keep them in the shelter home.

The court also empowered civil authorities to form a dedicated team so that this work could be done efficiently. The court said in its order that the situation is very serious and needs to take immediate steps.
