Taiwan, China will be huge tension in the country for nuclear power
Voting (file) in Taiwan
Taipei:A strange voting is being held in Taiwan on Saturday. Under this, voters will decide whether seven opposition MPs should be removed from the legislature as well as whether the final atomic reactor which was closed five months ago should be resumed. This move by Taiwan will definitely make China heavy tension. Because China does not want Taiwan’s closed nuclear reactors to resume.
Voting under right to recall
This second recall voting is taking place within a month, aimed at re -establishing its control in the legislature by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which has lost majority in the 2024 election. However, the possibilities of achieving this goal are low, as all 24 members of the Opposition Nationalist Party (KMT) were left in the first recall voting held on July 26.
DPP won the presidential election
DPP won the presidential election in 2024, but no party got an absolute majority in the 113 -seat legislature.
The Nationalist Party, called KMT, won 52 seats, which was one more than DPP. The nationalists have started passing the law in collaboration with the third party, Taiwan People’s Party (TPP), harassing the ruling DPP.
Referendum on nuclear power
The DPP is finishing nuclear power in a phased manner, which once supplied about 20% of Taiwan’s power. The last current reactor of the three nuclear plants of the autonomous island was closed after 40 years of service in May. But in the same month, a proposal of the Taiwan People’s Party was approved by the legislature, which included a referendum on re -starting nuclear power and included the support of the Nationalist Party.
This question was asked to the public
In the referendum, voters have been asked whether the recently closed nuclear plant should be restarted, provided the regulators find it safe. The plant is called the monsoon plant and is located on the southern end of Taiwan. Supporters of nuclear power say that this will reduce electricity bills and will help meet the increasing energy demand related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
America is supporting nuclear power
America is also in support of Taiwan’s nuclear power. American chip company NVIDIA -born Taiwan founder Jenson Huang also supported nuclear power after arriving at the airport in the capital Taipei on Friday on the issue. Citing AI’s energy requirements, he said that he hopes all options will be examined. He said, “The best sustainable energy techniques like solar and wind energy are present and atom is also a great option.” In May, NVIDIA announced that it would create an AI supercomputer for island researchers and companies in collaboration with Taiwan’s electronics manufacturer Foxconnn.
