Islamabad: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday agreed to work together to promote peace and stability in the region. Rubio also spoke to Sharif on the situation in West Asia. US State Ministry spokesman Tami Bruce said, “The two leaders accepted the importance of working together to promote permanent peace between Israel and Iran and maintain regional stability.”
‘Pakistan will continue to play its role for peace’
A statement from the Government of Pakistan said that the two leaders agreed to “work together to strengthen Pakistan-US relations, especially to increase business.” According to the statement, referring to the current status of West Asia, Sharif insisted that Pakistan will continue to play a creative role in establishing peace in the region.
Sharif praises Trump
The Government of Pakistan said that PM Sharif also praised US President Donald Trump’s “courageous and decisive leadership, which caused a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.” According to the statement, he also thanked Rubio for the important role of America in the Indo-Pak ceasefire.
Trump met Munir
Significantly, recently US President Donald Trump met Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House. During this, Trump discussed Iran and said that Pakistan knows it better than other countries. A part of the Pakistan Embassy in Washington represents Iran’s interests in the United States, as Tehran does not have diplomatic relations with the US.
America attacked Iran
The US attacked Iran’s nuclear sites after Aseem Munir met Trump. Iran also targeted the American base in Qatar in retaliation. Pakistan also condemned Israel and US attacks on Iran as well as nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Why Israel attacked Iran?
Meanwhile, let me tell you here that Israel is the only Middle Eastern country that is widely believed that it has nuclear weapons. On behalf of Israel, it has been said that the purpose of his war against Iran is to prevent Tehran from developing his nuclear weapons.
