Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke over the phone on Saturday. There was talk between the two leaders about the increasing tension in West Asia and the discussion on Ukraine peace talks. The two interacted between the two for about 50 minutes. Putin’s associate Yuri Ushakov gave this information on Saturday. During the conversation, Putin informed Trump about his recent conversation with Iran and Israel leaders. Along with this, he reiterated Russia’s proposal to find a mutually acceptable solution on the Iranian nuclear issue.

The conversation between Trump and Putin took place amid the increasing apprehensions of the wider regional war after the recent airstrikes of Israel on Iran’s military structure. After this attack, Iran has also warned of retaliation. However, Ushakov described the conversation between the leaders of the two countries as “meaningful and very useful”. He said, “The situation in the middle-East was naturally at the center of exchange of ideas.”
Putin allegedly told Trump about his recent phone contacts with Irani President Ibrahim REC and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He reiterated Russia’s long -standing proposal to search for “mutually acceptable agreement” on the Iranian nuclear issue, once again become a flashpoint in global diplomacy.
According to Russian media, Putin also criticized “Israeli’s inconsistent actions against Iran”. Putin expressed concern that further military growth could destabilize the area, which could make it difficult to overcome. At the same time, Trump described the situation as “very worrying” and the two leaders agreed to not ruled out the possibility of returning to the joint comprehensive action plan (JCPOA), which is usually known as Iran Nuclear Agreement.
Ukraine War and Istanbul Agreement
The two leaders also spoke on the ongoing war in Ukraine, which is now in its third year. Ushakov said that Putin informed Trump on the implementation of agreements made during the recent peace talks in Istanbul on June 2, including the exchange of prisoners and human corridors. Putin confirmed Russia’s desire to resume the conversation with Ukraine and suggested that the conversation could resume after 22 June. According to Kremlin sources, he said, “Russia is ready to continue the conversation.”
Trump expressed interest in the “early solution” of the conflict and sought details about the ongoing military operations and human status in the disputed areas such as Donnetsk and Kharkiv. The call has been made at a time when the fight on the eastern border has intensified, where Ukrainian forces have recently reported Russian drones and artillery attacks.

Despite geopolitical issues, the two leaders also interacted personally. Putin congratulated Trump on his birthday and flag day. Both recalled the war -time alliance between the US and the Soviet Union during World War II. Ushakov said, “He expressed satisfaction that his current relations allow direct discussion on global issues.”
