In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, two hospitals together successfully transplanted the liver (liver) and gave new life to two patients suffering from serious illness. Hospitals gave this information on Friday. According to officials, these patients were in the final stages of liver disorder. The complex process was done on 3 July in both hospitals with the joint efforts of GEM Hospital in Coimbatore and Sri Ramakrishna Hospital.

Why is liver exchange?

According to a release, “Traditionally, if the patient is needed, a relative can directly donate liver to the patient, in contrast, there is relief to patients who have no suitable person in their own family and can exchange liver with any other family with equal condition.” The release stated that this method has increased the number of people who want to donate and the patients suffering from the final stage of liver disease have aroused a new ray of hope as they either had to wait a long time or they had no viable treatment options.

59 and 53 year old people liver exchange surgery

Doctors also called this successful surgery a ‘historical medical achievement’. According to the release, a 59-year-old person from Salem admitted to GEM Hospital and a 53-year-old man from Tiruppur, a 59-year-old resident of Salem, underwent surgery for liver exchange. It said that the wives of both the patients were ready to donate blood but their blood group was found inconsistent and hence the possibility of blood donation was rejected directly. The doctors, however, found that every patient could be swapped to the liver donating people and this was the only viable solution.

What did the founder-president of GEM Hospital say?

Dr. C. Palanivelu, the founder-chairman of GEM Hospital, said, “For this, many legal, moral and logical challenges had to be dealt with. He reported that in addition, hospitals had to ensure surgery simultaneously and establish a real -time communication protocol between the two hospitals.

Managing Rusti of Shri Ramakrishna Hospital R.K. According to Sundar, this achievement is a true proof of Tamil Nadu’s medical excellence. He said, “Teams of GEM Hospital and Sri Ramakrishna Hospital carried out this complex process with extreme accuracy and dedication.” Sundar said that the condition of both the patients is improving. Director of GEM Hospital, Dr. P. Praveen Raj said that the exchange of exchange under the Human Anga Transplant Act, 2014 is already regulated but inter-hospital coordination has established new dimensions of security.
