Tanker filled with fuel explodes in Nigeria, 90 people killed

Abuja (Nigeria), 16 October (Hindustan Reporter). At least 90 people lost their lives in a fuel tanker explosion in Nigeria. This incident happened on Tuesday night in Jigawa state of north-west Nigeria.

Jigawa Police spokesperson, Shiisu Adam, on Wednesday said the accident occurred in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area of ​​Jigawa State. Most of the victims were killed in the explosion that engulfed the crash site. Adam said 50 other people were injured in the blast and were admitted to hospital. He said that at around 11:30 pm, the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University in Maziya Town and it exploded. After this it caught fire.

He said that in Nigeria civilians usually surround the accident site during fuel tanker accidents. Their purpose is to extract fuel. Same thing happened in this accident also. Police spokesperson said that despite warnings, people do not desist and become victims of accidents. He said hundreds of people have lost their lives in tanker accidents in different parts of Nigeria.
