Shreyas Iyer continuously blends a quiet and restrained behavior on the field along with consistent batting-a good captain has two major qualities. He has proved his ability to handle the innings and perform well under pressure.
Iyer’s strategic understanding, the experience of playing the role of rescue in the middle order and strong communication skills make him a reliable and -designed option for India’s captaincy in one -day international matches.
Rohit Sharma will remain ODI captain
However, to become the captain of Team India in the ODI format, Shreyas Iyer will have to wait, because Rohit Sharma has not announced his retirement from ODIs nor did the BCCI make Iyer the captain.
After retiring from Test cricket, Rohit Sharma clarified that he would continue to play in the ODI format. The BCCI also confirmed through social media that he would continue to be the ODI captain of India.
